Naturopathic

The naturopathic treatments available – a brief overview

Initially, patients receive advice on a healthy lifestyle and nutrition. The choice of suitable treatment also takes into account the patient’s attitudes and expectations.

Phytotherapy involves treatment with medicinal plants. The preparations are applied externally or ingested, depending on the condition. Medicinal teas made by the pharmacist according to individual recipes are particularly popular. Medicinal plants can be used as an add-on therapy or on their own for almost all illnesses.

Patients can try physical remedies such as baths, effusions and wraps in their own homes. They are used to prevent illness or, for example, in the case of febrile illnesses, degenerative diseases, circulatory disorders, metabolic disorders and mental health problems.

Autohaemotherapy is used for immune modulation or stimulation, e.g. for allergies, neurodermatitis and to prevent infections. Blood taken from the vein is diluted if necessary or combined with drugs, and then injected back into a muscle or under the skin.

Neural therapy also falls under the category of naturopathic treatment in its wider sense. In particular, head and neck complaints, back pains and certain organ disorders are treated with small quantities of a locally active anaesthetic, which is normally injected into the skin or administered by intramuscular infiltration. If interference fields, e.g. scars, are injected, the “lightning reaction” or “Huneke phenomenon” may occur and complaints in other areas suddenly disappear.
